CorTech’s “Make an Impact” Program
CorTech staff member lends a helping hand to a family in need
CorTech staff member lends a helping hand to a family in need
Recently one of our local offices held a job fair to help support a local client. A young couple, new to the community, attended the job fair looking for employment. Both were very shy but expressed an urgent need to find new jobs.
During the interview our CorTech staff member learned that they had recently been awarded custody of the wife’s 13 year old sister following the recent incarceration of their mother for addiction. To retain custody they were forced to move and set up residency in the county were the 13 year old resides.
As the couple searched for new jobs and enrolled the 13 year old in school they were faced with not only trying to make ends meet but also the challenge of meeting uniform requirements and the embarrassment being turned away at school because she was not dressed in the appropriate uniform. Everything was happening so fast and not enough time for them to get ahead of the game at earning enough money to meet all the necessary requirements of school, household, etc.
Our staff member launched into high gear to help this family! She offered them both new jobs and spread the word that we had a new family in town that needed uniforms for school and assistance to get them set up while working for their first paychecks. The response was overwhelming!!
From co-workers, friends and neighbors, our office received clothes that would meet the uniform requirements, shoes, jackets, a new backpack, school supplies, and monetary donations to help with other expenses. Donations continue to come in from outside sources as well as our client employees. Truly a labor of love for this family!
The CorTech team will continue to monitor the situation and provide assistance as needed to help this family begin their new lives together. Hats off to our staff member, Jessica for her caring efforts and to “make an impact” by just doing what she does best …..Looking out for those that need the support of a friend.
